Once you’ve finished making your chocolatey goodness, you can eat it right away for a soft-serve style, or you can put it into a container and freeze it for later. The tub is nice and slender and fits perfectly in my freezer (and even freezer door!). And I love how easily my ice cream scoop glides thru the ice cream thanks to the nice design of this container!

It even comes in four different colors! You can get it in a 1.5 quart sized container too.

FAQs

How long does it take to make ice cream with a KitchenAid ice cream maker? ›

It usually takes 20-30 minutes to make ice cream with a KitchenAid® Ice Cream Maker attachment for your stand mixer. Churning for this amount of time will produce soft-serve ice cream. If you want a firmer, scoopable ice cream you can freeze it for 2-4 hours, then serve.

What is the secret to making ice cream very creamy? ›

When it comes to great ice cream, cold temperatures and speed are your friends: the faster you bring your base from liquid to solid, the creamier it'll be. In a 2-quart unit, a typical batch of ice cream will take between 18 and 25 minutes to churn.

How do you know when KitchenAid ice cream is done? ›

Most ice cream bases take between 20 to 30 minutes in the KitchenAid bowl, but since there is no built-in timer or doneness indicator you'll want to keep an eye or ear on it. The ice cream should be the consistency of soft-serve when done.

How long does the KitchenAid ice cream maker take to freeze? ›

The freeze bowl must be completely frozen to make ice cream or frozen desserts. Place the bowl in the freezer for a minimum of 15 hours. It is best to store the freeze bowl at the back of the freezer where it is the coldest. The freeze bowl should be used immediately after removal from the freezer.

What speed should I use my KitchenAid ice cream maker? ›

Set the mixer to “STIR” speed and pour the ice cream batter into the freeze bowl; mix for 20-30 minutes or to the desired consistency. Add any solid ingredients, such as fruits, nuts, candies, or chocolate chips, after 12-15 minutes of the mixing process.

What setting for KitchenAid ice cream maker? ›

Add the KitchenAid® Ice Cream Maker Attachment to your stand mixer. Start your mixer on the Stir setting before adding your ice cream mixture to the frozen bowl. Do not add your ice cream base until the dasher is in motion.

What is the best sugar for homemade ice cream? ›

Most home ice cream recipes call for simple table sugar, which is chemically known as sucrose. But in pro kitchens you have more options. Liquid sugars like invert sugar, corn syrup, honey, and glucose syrup all add body, creaminess, and stability to ice cream, and a little goes a long way.

What ingredient makes ice cream thicker? ›

Adding thickening agents, such as egg yolks, cornstarch, gelatin, tapioca starch, or even Junket tablets, enhances the texture and elevates the overall ice cream experience. Remember, making homemade ice cream is as much an art as it is a science.

What thickens homemade ice cream? ›

Add extra egg yolks for a richer, thicker texture.

You can use up to 8 eggs for 1 quart (688 grams) of ice cream. This may seem like a lot, but it really makes a difference. Egg yolks not only help make the ice cream thicker, but they also help reduce the amount of ice crystals that often form during freezing.

Can you over mix ice cream? ›

Many people over mix the ice cream, attempting to freeze it and get it super-chilled right in the machine. This is a big "don't," as overmixing will cause the ice cream to turn, well, icy. "Ice cream's optimal texture doesn't happen in the machine—it happens in the freezer," says Perry.

How do you make ice cream in a Kitchenaid mixer without the attachment? ›

2 Ingredient Method
  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip the cream until stiff peaks form. On low speed, mix in the condensed milk, vanilla, and any flavorings.
  2. Pour into a resealable container, cover the surface with plastic wrap, then seal. Freeze for at least 6 hours, or until firm. Keep stored in the freezer.

Can you churn ice cream too long? ›

Here's why: Churning ice cream base is a bit like making whipped cream. You need to churn just enough to make the fat globules stick to the air bubbles and form a protective coating that stabilizes the foam. But too much churning can cause the fat globules to stick to each other, turning the mixture into butter.

Why is my homemade ice cream not thickening? ›

Weak, watery ice creams may not contain enough solids. Try adding some skimmed milk powder (SMP). Or you can experiment with stabilizers.

Why does my KitchenAid ice maker keep freezing up? ›

Bin control malfunctions

If the ice machine can't shut down, it will produce ice until it eventually builds up through the drop zone and backs up into the ice machine. Once the drop zone is plugged up, ice can't deposit, and the machine freezes up.

When to stop churning ice cream? ›

Churn just until the ice cream is thick, and about the consistency of soft serve, then transfer to another container and store in the freezer.

How long does it take for ice cream to set in an ice cream maker? ›

Churn in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically 20 to 30 minutes. The ice cream will be soft after churning. For firmer ice cream, transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 2 to 4 hours before serving.

How long does it take to run an ice cream maker? ›

Immediately pour your ice cream base in through the spout. You want to have the machine running when you pour your ingredients in so you don't end up with any icy pieces. Churn for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened and increased in volume to your desired consistency.

How long does an ice cream maker take? ›

Keep the machine running for 20 to 30 minutes, and voila—ice cream! For best results, transfer your freshly made treat to a freezer-proof container to chill a bit longer. This will help your dessert firm up a bit.

How long does a home ice cream maker take? ›

The ice cream maker step by step

Take the cooler bowl out of the freezer and quickly place it in the ice cream maker to prevent it from warming up. Add the mixture. Churn the mixture between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the recipe, or until it has set.
