I am an all breed handler specializing in German shepherds and herding breeds. I have been showing dogs for 20 years with 13 years combined apprentice and professional experience as well as experience working at a veterinary hospital. I have earned multiple group placements in multiple breeds including Herding, Terrier, Non-Sporting and Working. What are the requirements for a show dog? ›

To compete in an AKC Conformation show, your dog must be:
  • Six months or older on the day of the show.
  • Recognized breed by the AKC.
  • Registered with the AKC.
  • NOT spayed or neutered.
