May is a wonderful month at Santa Rosa Junior College! I'm extremely honored to attend multiple ceremonies celebrating the achievements of our #SRJC students. One event that is extremely touching and heartfelt is the Sashing and Honors Recognition Ceremony for our three impactful student support programs that combines the passion and heart of the STEM and Health Sciences programs. The SRJC HOPE, SRJC MESA, and Avanzando (HSI STEM), programs support first generation, financially challenged, or under-represented students transfer as STEM majors to 4-year institutions or into the Health Sciences.I am so proud of the wonderful team that has supported our students for so many years. Daisy Cardenas, M.A., Jessica Zambrano, MPA, Lucero Jimenez, M.A., Jeannie Dulberg, MA, LMFT, Sakanashi Tammy, Arley Aguilar Luna, Emmanuel Lopez Ortiz, Jassel Dolores, Tony Vasquez, Guillermo Garcia, Hollie Tracy, Meghan O'Leary, Jocelyn Wilson, Juan Martinez Vega, and many others. And so very proud of Juan Martinez Vega and Meghan O'Leary for also being inspirational students speakers and role models. And as a surprise, an annual award has now been named after Meghan O'Leary for her tireless dedication to HOPE students over several years and her selflessness in all that she does.

🎓❤️Congratulations HAM Class of 2024❤️🎓This was the most meaningful moment during our ceremony. Graduating students were asked to come on stage and look up at the audience filled with their loved ones and think of a moment when the voice inside their heads was telling them they couldn’t do it and think of the one person in the audience that helped lift them up and encourage them to keep going, to “seguir echándole ganas.” After this, they each took a rose and gave it to the one person who helped them through their toughest and darkest times during their journey. There wasn’t a dry eye in the whole auditorium. A special thanks to Dr. Angélica Garcia and Victor Tam for joining us during this special ceremony.Thank you all for allowing us to be a part of your journeys, we are so proud of each and every one of you!---🎓❤️Felicitaciones Clase HAM de 2024❤️🎓Este fue el momento más significado durante nuestra ceremonia.
