Hey guys a buddy of mine bought this motor being told it was an animal. He ordered a new flywheel with the starter ring gear. When he put it on and went to use the 7100 coil realized the coil wouldnt fit using the mounting holes. Is this an animal or is it something else?

Early version or a intek .
At any rate it's got the old coil setup . A pvl flywheel and coil will not work.
Most came with JR Racecar flywheel.
That is not one of them .
I believe the very earliest did have that type flywheel.
Did it have orange animal tins ?

As best I can see that looks like an early Animal. When you say 7100 coil, are you talking about the red PVL? I can't see the flywheel well enough to see what it is but it will not work with the PVL.. Lots of us on here can give you good advice on how to reassemble this motor but what are you planning to do with it? Sanctioned racing or something else?

Yes red pvl. He would be using it in a jr sprint class. The rules aren't a problem hes just hoping to get it running and on the track. Is there somewhere to find a pvl adapter bracket?

I have not seen very many tracks where rules are not a problem. Is this going to be a practice motor only? That being said, the bracket is easy to make. I can send you a photo that can show you how to fabricate one. It may find that a bit odd but I have sent the photo to dozens of people and none of them have given me feedback that they could not fabricate one from that photo. These are photos of a bracket that someone sent me many years ago. I used steel and brass rather them aluminum. You probably will need to measure the exact location of the holes. I seem to remember that you will also need to trim the coil posts a bit as well. He will need the proper flywheel. You can find one here: https://4cycle.com/karting/threads/animal-engine-parts.133643/#post-961552 I have found this gentleman (MERACER9) to be reliable.

Actually, after thinking about it, I have a plate that I made years ago, maybe my first effort and not very pretty. It has a stripped bolt hole. If you want it, send me your address and I will drop it in the mail. It has been a long time since anybody cared about one of these.

Our track just makes sure you run a 7100 pvl. Trying to get them to go with the same rules as the Tulsa shootout has but dont see that happening anytime soon. Thanks for the photo i will send it my buddies way. I appreciate it.
